Community water fluoridation expansion in the north east of England
The government are consulting on a proposal to request the relevant water companies to enter into new fluoridation arrangements, and to vary existing agreements, in order to expand community water fluoridation schemes across the north east of England. This is because of significant and long-standing inequalities in the region and is part of the government’s plan to improve dental health.

12.The Coat of Hopes Visits Horden
Thursday 25 April, 3pm at Horden Train Station.
East Durham Trust and Horden Together are delighted to share that the incredible Coat of Hopes will be making a visit to Horden. This event is open to all.
The Coat of Hopes is a patchwork pilgrim coat, on an ongoing walk through Britain.
Made, worn and walked by many hundreds of people during and since the pilgrimage on which it was created – from the south coast of England to the gates of COP 26, the UN climate summit, in Glasgow autumn 2021.
The Coat is made up of pieces of blanket into which people have worked their griefs, remembrances, prayers and hopes for the place they call home.
Timings:
15:00 – Meet at Horden station.
15:12 – Coat of Hopes arrives by train (all being well!).
We will then walk to colliery site.
16:00 – There will be a proclamation and people can wear the Coat. Songs will be sung.
16:30 – We will walk to the Social Welfare.
17:00 – There will be some refreshments.
17:30 – Film screening of ‘Coat of Hopes’ film followed by discussion.
