Wheatley Hill Parish Council is displaying the Ukrainian flag as a gesture of our solidarity with and support for Ukraine.
The Chair of Wheatley Hill Parish Council, Councillor Jake Miller and the Members of the Parish Council all share the horror and sadness felt by people around the world at the situation in Ukraine.
The Parish Council is shocked and appalled by the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces and by the scenes of ordinary Ukranian people fleeing for their lives, being killed or badly injured.
As a gesture of our strong solidarity with and support for Ukraine, we are very proud to be displaying its national flag in the Cemetery at Wheatley Hill.
How to help
We are aware that residents may also want to offer their support. We have been advised by the British Red Cross that the most effective way of doing this at the current time is via cash donations, which can be made online via the British Red Cross or by calling 0300 023 0820.
The Red Cross is advising that they are not sending volunteers or donated goods to Ukraine at this time and has asked people to contribute through donations. Further information on the reasons for this is available on the British Red Cross.
Our thoughts remain firmly with Ukraine.
